ABOUT US

OUR HISTORY

A FEMALE-OWNED MINORITY BUSINESS

Schomburg & Schomburg Construction Incorporated was founded in 1978 when Richard Schomburg and John Bailey formed the partnership of Schomburg and Bailey General Contractors for the purpose of serving Central Illinois clients in the discipline of comprehensive construction services. Schomburg and Bailey enjoyed great success and growth while building their reputation for quality performance.

In 1979, Mr. Bailey was interested in a residential-focused company, while Mr. Schomburg was focused on commercial, industrial and municipal aspects of the business. Mr. Bailey decided to move to Missouri and become a residential contractor so Mr. Schomburg’s wife, Barbara, purchased Mr. Bailey’s interest and re-named the company Schomburg & Schomburg Construction General Contractor, Inc. The firm was incorporated in 1979. The company has been continuously owned and operated as a female-owned minority business from this point until the current day. After 41 years of successful operation, the Schomburg’s have elected to retire and sell their interest in the company. The Future for Schomburg & Schomburg is bright as it is owned, managed and operated as a female-owned minority business through a business partnership between Julie Buesing and Wesley Burress.

The rich experience gained in the construction of a variety of project types has been retained and passed on among company officers and field personnel through a continuity created by the average tenure of employee’s stay with the company of almost twenty-five years. We are proud of our heritage and the fact that our company is one of the oldest firms in the area, having a record of success serving our clients for over forty-one years.
